DIRECTOR: JOHN JACOBSEN
John Jacobsen makes his feature film debut as a director with AROUND THE FIRE. Jacobsen began his career on the stage in Washington, DC, where he performed as an actor in the National Shakespeare Theatre. He then turned his attention to directing, and was named Washington DC's Best Director at age 24.
Jacobsen relocated to New York, where he directed over twenty successful off-Broadway productions, and worked as an assistant to top industry directors such as the Tony Award-winning Harold Prince. At the same time, Jacobsen was an assistant to noted casting director Ronnie Yeskel ("LA Law," PULP FICTION), and directed the Tribute to Katherine Dunham on CBS' Emmy Award-winning Kennedy Center Honors.
Jacobsen was then accepted as Directing Fellow at the Center for Advanced Film Studies at the AFI in Los Angeles. During this time, he worked in production on the feature films 52 PICK UP, starring Roy Scheider and THE ASSASSIN, starring Charles Bronson. Jacobsen next headed up the Film and Television Department at UCLA Extension for two years, while executive producing short films, producing and directing commercials, and serving as producer on the feature NERVOUS TICKS, starring Bill Pullman and James LeGros.
Now based in Seattle, Jacobsen continues his work as a producer and director of commercials and stage productions, and feature films."
